We've finally wrapped up the four month intensive boot camp where you tend to gain not only biblical knowledge but also a spare tire around the middle. (Thanks to Maggie our wonderful cook!) We've come home to Kalispell and have had a warm welcome from our home church. I've never had so many people say they are praying for us. It was humbling and impressive at the same time. I so appreciate the ownership that Easthaven's people are taking in this mission effort. I hope and pray they realize that by holding the rope they become co-laborers with us in Uganda. It has been pretty awesome so far and has helped in the with-drawls of missing our missionary friends. It makes me realize...
...how many people we will miss from Easthaven. It is amazing to think that God took a shell of a Christian and transformed him for His glory and purposes before the church's eyes. I had the privilege to serve our church family by preaching last Sunday. All three services! It was exhausting but very exciting too. I couldn't even eat anything that day because I was afraid I might.....well you know. Some may not know this but I get quite bound up with nerves before preaching. It has been this way since the second time I preached. During my preparation time I barely ate because of the study and prayer time put in. After the last week and a half I think I have about 6 weeks of sermons prepared (or at least started) and I lost 10lbs. So if you are looking for a weight loss program ask your pastor for a shot in the pulpit and take it very seriously. It was a joy all around and I was blessed to have done it. I think God spoke to people through the message and I know they had an encounter with Jesus. It makes me all the more excited to get to work in Uganda. My next preaching engagement will be January 18, 2009 in Kampala, Uganda. May God's grace be poured out and His Spirit move, changing hearts and making Jesus famous.
